Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

No that’s not my real mission… Though it is a good one. No, my real mission with this site,  is to display my works, both private and professional.

EDIT: 02FEB10: Pilgway and I are happy to announce the republication of the official training DVD entitled, “Voxel Sculpting in 3D-Coat v3: The Alas Armor Suit (w/3.2 Addendum)”. You can read more about it HERE!

EDIT: 08DEC09: Announcing the new Official 3D-Coat Training Channel on Vimeo. You can read more about it HERE. Did I mention this contains nothing but FREE training…? :)

Hyper Smash

iAnimate

I am excited to mention this:

Jason Ryan and DigiCel (the makers of FlipBook) have teamed up on a new online animation training course. You can learn at your own pace, and learn from home. All of the instructors are from Dreamworks. It’s pretty darn inexpensive, and the best part, at least in my opinion, is that they only except slightly more students than a handful. So you’re guaranteed to get one on one with an instructor. The program starts this September, so if you’ve been wanting to get pro training at a decent price, now is the time. :)

You can check it out at the URL below!

PAP Pro is now free!

A quick note to all the animators out there – PAP Pro (Plastic Animation Paper) is now entirely free! The developer has decided to release the software free of charge. How cool is that? You can find out more, and also download it at the official PAP website, by following the URL below.

Enjoy!

PS – Thanks to Mario on the Setuptab.com forum for the heads up on this. Much appreciated.

3D-Coat Video Manual Update

I’ve updated the 3D-Coat Video Manual with two new videos:

Humble Indie Bundle

You can for a limited time, pick up some of the best indie games to have been released (One of which is one of my personal favourites – Aquaria!) together, for an insane price: Whatever you want to pay!

Yes it’s true, you can pay what you want and get FIVE different games. Don’t be a chump of course, the money goes right to the developers, and you can also specify how much to donate, if any.

YouTube Preview Image

Here’s the official blurb:

The Humble Indie Bundle is a unique kind of bundle that we are trying out.

Pay what you want. If you bought these five games separately, it would cost around $80 but we’re letting you set the price!

All of the games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux. We didn’t want to leave anyone out.

There is no middle-man. You can rest assured that 100% of your purchase goes directly to the developers and non-profits as you specify (minus credit card fees).

We don’t use DRM. When you buy these games, they are yours. Feel free to play them without an internet connection, back them up, and install them on all of your Macs and PCs freely.

Your contribution supports the amazing Child’s Play charity and Electronic Frontier Foundation. By default, the amount is split equally between the seven participants (including Child’s Play and EFF), but you can tweak the split any way you’d like.

DRM free, PC, mac & Linux support, AND you can name your own price? You just can’t beat that. Head over to http://www.wolfire.com/humble, and support independent game developers and charities at the same time. :)

New 3DC Videos: Ptex Related

I’ve recently finished some Ptex videos for 3D-Coat. I’ve also uploaded a new pipeline video for 3DC<>Blender that my accomplice has recently finished as well. You can check them out below in the embedded video channel or their respective links.

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo of Japan has let slip that they will be releasing a new Nintendo DS, likely entitled “3DS”, for it’s new 3D screen capabilities! Pretty neat if you ask me. The idea is that there is a thin screen overlapping the display which gives a 3D visual appearance. We’ll see how it pans out though soon, it is rumored they may launch this year near E3 this year, if not then, then early 2011.

Further rumors indicate that the 3DS will also have an analog stick,  built in rumble, great distance on wifi, longer battery life and likely also an accelerometer for tilting controls.

New video posted!

I’ve posted a new video covering the workflow from an external application to 3D-Coat, and back again while only exporting out texture maps (normal & AO map). It is posted up on Vimeo! You can check it out HERE:
