Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

No that’s not my real mission… Though it is a good one. No, my real mission with this site,  is to display my works, both private and professional.

EDIT: 02FEB10: Pilgway and I are happy to announce the republication of the official training DVD entitled, “Voxel Sculptin in 3D-Coat v3: The Alas Armor Suit (w/3.2 Addendum)”. You can read more about it HERE!

3D-Coat Voxel Sculpting DVD Re-released!!

Pilgway and I are happy to announce the republication of the DVD training  for 3D-Coat, entitled “Voxel Sculpting in 3D-Coat v3: The Alas Armor Suit (w/3.2 Addendum)”. This training contains 20+ hours of training, and will take you through nearly every voxel sculpting tool in 3D-Coat v3. We’ll also talk about methods, techniques and some workflow philosophies in 3D-Coat. I cover a bit of both organic and hard-surface sculpting, how to create brushes for 3D-Coat in Photoshop, and also how to use 3D object files to achieve more complex objects.

Gideon Klindt designed the character used in this project based DVD, the futuristic Alas Armor Suit.  You can find more outstanding character designs and artwork from Gideon at www.gideonklindt.com.

The DVD contains videos in .mp4 format which can be played directly on your computer with just about any OS (Windows, Linux (many flavors) & Mac) with VLC Player. At the moment I am only distributing this DVD digitally. The digital version is on sale NOW, and can be purchased by clicking the “Buy now” button below! (Stay tuned for a physical distro) Also a noteworthy mention: I’ve recorded and am accompanying an almost 25 minute addendum for changes up to 3D-Coat v3.2!

7Zip is also needed to decompress the files, which can be downloaded from HERE. I also recommend using VLC Player, as it is supported on Win, Linux & Mac. You can download it HERE.

Not sure if you want to buy? I have about 45 minutes of preview material you can view HERE!

By purchasing, you agree to the terms of use. Got more questions? Check out the FAQ.

3D-Coat v3.2 Released!

I’m a little slow to the gate on this one (Been rather busy, as shall soon be obvious), but it’s still worth a huge mention! 3D-Coat v3.2 was released earlier this week, if you don’t have your update yet, or if you want to try the demo, you can download it right now from HERE.

You can also read more about the new features and tools, right HERE.

Congratulations to the Pilgway team!

Video Manual Updates

I’ve updated the 3D-Coat Video Manual with the new recent additions to the voxel sculpting tools. The Voxel Surface Sculpting tools in 3D-Coat allow for  much faster strokes while sculpting, with a minimal downtime. Not to mention the new Sf.Freeze tool, which allows for masking with your brush strokes!

The new videos can be found HERE!

If you haven’t checked out the newest version of 3D-Coat, simply head over to THIS SITE and download the most recent demo!

New Lightwave Video

To help out in the LW Community, I’ve recorded a video on how to create and hide slider banks using a proxy picker. You can check it out HERE. Enjoy!

Lightwave CORE Info Update

Yesterday afternoon, Newtek, the makers of LightWave, announced more information regarding their new 3D Modeling, Animation, Rendering, Compositing, etc package named LightWave CORE. This information isn’t new to me, as I am a HardCORE Member (and so you should be too!), but for those of you out there that aren’t… You can finally find out more information on what it is, and what some of the features of v1 are.

Jay Roth, President of the 3D Division at Newtek, speaks on the matter HERE in their DEC09 newsletter.

Bullet dynamics. Instancing. Every parameter is animatable. Every parameter is a node… And so on. What’s not to love?

FREE 3D-Coat Training now live!

Official 3D-Coat Training on Vimeo

I am very proud to announce the launch of the Official 3D-Coat FREE Training Channel on Vimeo! You can find the channel HERE.

This Channel will carry any free tutorials and training that we publish and is an invaluable resource for those new and existing users alike.

The first series of videos on this new channel, are a part of the new free Retopology Series. Series one, covers the retopology tools in use on a human head. Series two, covers the retopology tools in use on a spider creature. In these two Retopology Series I discuss and describe at great length topics such as: Edge flow, mesh topology for deformation & animation, and the use of specific retopology tools.

You can find the Retopology Series HERE or as mentioned above, you can also view the Retopology Series on the new Official 3D-Coat Free Training Channel HERE!

More videos will be added as time goes on. You can subscribe to the channel on Vimeo to get updates when new videos are posted!

More 3DC Video Manual Updates: Retopology

I’ve also categorized all of the different types of videos by what they cover. You can find the new retopology videos HERE.

Rebelhill Rigging Training

I am getting lots of questions about rigging lately from folks – It’s a rather complicated matter I usually say. Not one that cannot be learnt of course, so, I’ve been pointing people toward Craig Monins’ rigging training. It is the absolute best training you can find for character rigging in Lightwave.

Craig goes through expressions, LW IK, PLG IK, and skinning… To just name a few bits.

So, if you’re looking for rigging tutorials or professional training for rigging, look no further. Head on over to http://www.rebelhill.net/, grab yourself a copy of his training for £60 ($98USD, €66), then sit back with a cup of jolly joe and have yourself a peek.

It’s well worth the investment. I’ve seen all the other “training”  out there for rigging in Lightwave, so I can say with the utmost certainty: This is the definitive rigging training guide for Lightwave. Don’t waste your time nor money on anything else. You can thank me on that bit later. ;)
